What's Up
Just got back from Pebble Beach where the bluebloods
dress up and strut their stuff. This year 9 famous early hot rods were featured and came across pretty good; the
Doane Spencer Roadster, Jacobs/niecamp '29, Gegian
Ambr winner, white/brown Deuce Roadster, etc. It's a big wow to run with those cats......they were pretty nice to
our guys.

This picture shows one Scott Bowser workin' over his
Cragar B Powered Model A
at Muroc this past April.
Scott put on that maroon
paint 39 years ago. This
family racecar has done
lakes and drag duty all
this time. Scott cut his
teeth at Pennsylvania dirt
tracks like Williams
Grove. He's seen guys like
Otis Stine, Ted Horn and
the rest . Scott is the genuine article, boys. He talks rough and has beer and vienna sausages for breakfast. (At
least that's what he served us!). We plan to introduce you to alot of real hot rod men here.
The muroc event was less populated this year, and the event was better for it... No pretenders to speak of, just
folks who like dry lakes racing, race cars and racing people.

Another big, white headed galoot called Jack Underwood owns the primered '29 whose moon disc, racing tire and
quarter panel are shown at the last river city reliability run (pictured). This thing has a real hallock
windshield, the nicest running flattie in town, and it is just too cool. Jack knows about all you need to know
about this stuff and does no posing, or power parking. He crews at bonnie and lakes meets and just walks the walk.
He has hop up style.
These are the kinds of cars and people we want to praise here; if you know one of them - crusty or not - let us
know.
