HOTRODARAMA

Then came Tacoma. It was August 22-24.

They came. They cruised. They boogied.

Stringer Steve Lemmons says Hotrodarama was "Two thumbs up!" and submits these:

SPEEDWEEK AND 100 MPH CLUB BANQUET

Bonneville, since the 'renaissance' of 1998, has become the penultimate rod run..... one to our (rare) liking....and although there is a bit of fame-chasing going ...most mugs are there for the worship of land speed racing. That's a worthy purpose.

C-Notes Banquet was, again, casual, Un-Twos, open invitation, free, no speeches and, some said, the highlight of the week. No body got in the club, so the fancy T shirts were displayed as a tease and......the dream-wheels had already started a-turnin' for a few more would-be Danger Seekers. There's word that a new flathead four barrel tank may appear next year to challenge Shug and his formidable 55 MPH. (Hey, Shug: they shit-canned the 55 MPH speed limit YEARS ago!)

Like they always say at the Salt........next year.......

HUGH, TONY AND THE HUGHBACHIE ™ ITSELF

The Jet Hot Coated Hughbachie™ performed admirably, as did Hugh himself, who built it, schlepped all the supplies (we saw lots of folks thanking him), charring was effected by Tony and Chella, Don hauled in our beer order, Mildness was on duty...looked like all he did was smoke and drank, tho....., and Rudabager made Margies. Others helped with logistics.............. but we're blankin' now. Sorry.

Prominent in his absence and missed was 20mile, who had a have-to back near home. We can't name everybody, but there was a dandy fleet of hot rods, a shoebox or so, Jerry's stock T r/p; Rollin' Bones were there, pushing their scrappers around uncorked and lookin' gooood, as were all the cars at the 'Bend'; and there was folks from Texas, Maine, Kentucky, Mass., NY, Utah , Idaho, and, well, it looks like a Monday Institution now, at Speedweek.

Don't know how you'd top the crowd we drew. We folded and fled and...sounds like Jason stayed out there a-bayin' at the moon for a while yet......
