THE NEW ONE - YUP - WE DONE IT AGAIN

HOP UP 2002 - VOLUME III

Oh, yeah. We want you to be the first - the first in your neighborhood - to see and read................ veritas 2002.

Yeah, Baby.

It's the annual report on traditional hot rod and custom innovation (not invention); it's the gut, the vibe, the style showcased by our people nation and world wide.

The cover is innovative yet again - a Weesner illustration - and - if you are da kine hot rod daddy; if you are cool-livin' and unfettered with fraud-rod doin's; if you want to see what the other Truehearts in the culture are up to.............send the scratch, Man...................you prob'ly still got a job........

AND, you will want to also order the reprint.

THE WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, the humanity! We (and MBI) have reprinted the first 12 issues of Hop Up. Yeah, like Hot Rod Mag did. But this is "HOP UP" For a lousy $24.95 you will have the original tome, the basis of comparison, the marked-in-time, dead-nuts best review of what was (is) meaningful in the day. And it won't cost $10-20 per mag like it is on e Bay or at swap meets.

Not since Montgomery's books came out has there been anything more vital to your library. It's where truth originated. Not exactly the 'Tablets of Stone' but pretty fairly well important to the coolest, realist, most-happening Daddies out there on the pike..........

VOLUME II STILL AVAILABLE

MAY COVER

Courtesy of Eric Schill, whose customer - Gordon - bought the fendered A bone in 1951 in Portland. Winfield head, Isky 1021 cam, dual 97's, 7.00x16 rear, 5.50 'sickles' on the front.

Gordon's re-gowin' to a V8 flathead.

Awwwwwwwwwwww...............nuts.

VLV

We gotta get there next time. 500 cars, all hardcore hot rods and customs. And bands, and they usually have a fistfight. Wonder if they got beer, too?

Oh.

Pictures are all over the net (check out Jalopy Journal, the Hokey Ass Message Board).

As an aside to this we recently saw 'Royal Crown Review'; had they just played somewhere at VLV? Vicky Tafoya sat in and slayed us with a couple of select ol' time warbles. She was featured somewhere at VLV, too, someone in the crowd said.

LONE STAR ROUND UP

Was good according to reports and pictures on the HAMB. Spiritually centered around the Continental Club, we know the venue is alright, having gulped a few in there before, trying to keep up with the likes of Toni Price who gets her share from her own tumbler while making big girl-music. It's always the No.1 place to go in Austin.... and these greaseballs know how to mix music and cars and.........whatever else it is that matters.

T n' A

The annual trek to LA County Raceway for the Antique Nationals and Related Birthdays is June 1,2. Click here for Four Ever Four Club flier.

There's a picnic on the day before the races, then bench (parking lot) racing at the hotel on Saturday. Usually likker, old Fords, and the like...and no posers that we know of.

........AND RACE THIS SO CAL VERSION

The Hop Up proffered here is KV and TV's 220 inch inserted, full pressure model, with custom made (that's home made in this case) water pump, 11.5 pound billet aluminum flywheel, 1.75 exhaust valves, 1.92 intakes, big ports matched all around, 1.75 exhaust tubing (2 into 2), 10.5 to 1 compression,, a whole lotta head work, and a 'muther thumper' cam with secret specs, and dual 81's or 97's depending on the choice of fuel.

We'll know more at the Antique Nationals, we figure.

AUBURN

Usual crowd, they say (they wouldn’t let us go this time.......somethin’ about a streetrod), but the PAISAN PASTA ROAST went off big: gettin’ so popular we hear the Goodguise have made an offer on the whole thing: property, cars, livestock, copyrights, the whole shiteree. Sellers would have to sign a covenant that they wouldn’t have fun within 50 miles of Auburn for 5 years, so the deal was off.

Races were good and that Hop Up darlin’ Mild Mitch knocked off two seconds: one off his time and the other outa his transmission!!!

Course was shortened to 400 feet so that kept a few tow-ins at home.

NO RESPECT

Stroupe told someone that the 200MPH club is to the 100MPH club what a College diploma is to a G.E.D.!!!

We get no respect.

Hell, NO! Nobody wants to work on your V8-era trans. OR the banjo rear-end. I sure wish Joe Mac Clelland was around....................

He is, of course. The trans-master turns them around in about a day and you can find him at: (909) 371-3111, in Corona, Cal.
