MAGAZINENearly complete as a semi-modern fat fendered hot/street rod, Kent switched reels and chose the late thirties custom look: skirts, chop, www. Whoa, Daddy. This Coche Negro is going to get some attention. May show up in Hop Up 2003. That's Volume IV, ya know?
Made some waves at Paso.
Seems Van Jr. and the gang got together while everyone's attention was on Paso, and pitched one o' them wang-dang-doodles you hear about: an impromptu cloister of club cars, people and friends' and their cars where they showed 'Rebel' on the side of a building and.........like it tends to happen........they had a blast doin' their own gig.
Drive there, race it, drive home car was acquired from Hop Up Pal Steve (Limeworks) and seen here drug by Colby Martin at Elmo in May.
We were on our way home in a hot rod, spinning about 70 and talking to Sweet Thang re: plans for the evening and a dark form sped past in #1: Thacker peeked out of the cage with the grin of all grins, wove through some traffic and disappeared westbound. That's what it's all about.
Not much to say except, 'this is sure fun, ain't it?'.
Speaking of Limeworks, this problem solver has shown up for $199 fully polished. Call them at (562) 698-1227, or check www.limeworksspeedshop.com website

We talked about it a couple years ago; wouldn't tell ya where it was, and all.

The bloom is off the vine. It's found out. So much so that we went the week before, (and actually the week after, too!) did all we would've done on the week of, and it was good. Maybe next time we'll tell a few others about the warm-up roadster show, the poseurs will be confused, start showing up for that, then we'll go back to the original.
It's like throwing chum.
Just after WWII, hot rodding got a start when young men took their cars out to the dry lake beds to see what they would do.
They began a whole new industry right there on the dry mud.
"Running at the Lakes", a new bronze sculpture by Steve Posson, captures the spirit of the early lakes meets.
The car has Kelsey-Hayes wheels, a dropped axle and a race car steering wheel, but everything else is pretty much stock.....and well used.
The '29 body has the cowl gas cap and the '32 grill still has its original trim and cap. The interior is tired, the door handles sag, but you know all the work is in the motor!
The racers are in blue denims with rolled up cuffs, t-shirts and boots.
"Running at the Lakes" is 26" long, carefully made by hand in lost-wax silicone bronze on a marble base. There will only be 15 made. $6,500.00
