Hop Up MAGAZINE

July '98

T'n A

Go forth, Hop Up Brethren, into the archives of your grandmas and grandpas; therein you will find, if you persevere, the beginnings of our passion. We became in the posession of a box of family photos that we are going to share with you piece-meal (we gotta have something for later months, don't we?). There was a family in Pasadena with a couple of sons who were gearheads in the middle teens. 1915-16. They must've been a well-to-do clan, because these young scrubs had new motorcycles, and even the T boattail speedster shown below.

Captions:
Top Left "MAR.9, 1919 OUR FORD". Top Right "MAR.9, 1919 KEN IN HIS AND MY FORD."
Bottom Center: " MYSELF IN THE FORD. WE HAD THE BODY BUILT IN LOS ANGELES ON A 1916 CHASSIS. COST US ABOUT $500. I SOLD MY HENDERSON TO PAY FOR MY SHARE."
