PERSONALITY

Frank McFadden

[Business Card]

The business card sorta tells the tale: he's been there, done that, got the T-shirt and is still doin' it without his own wheel runnin' very far off the road!

We met Frank about 5 years ago; he was driving a hep '36 coupe with all the right styling clues: "Obviously someone worth knowing", we said and, it turns out, a helluva nice guy. He's gotten weary of the Rod Stops and favors what we do : lower key meet-ups like the antique drags, Muroc, Bonneville, etc. The reason seems to be 1) you always drive your piece to the event. 2) you watch or participate in an activity. 3) you're runnin' with cats what think like you do. 4) it's too hot or dirty for the posers.

So you can see that FM is not a fraud-rodder by any definition. His current project is a '29 RPU with a 158 c.i. Chey II 4 barrel, Weber carb, R.V. cam. headers, mallory ignition, Crane roller rockers, lots of head work, turbo 350, and 9" ford rear end.

It's got 4000 miles in its' first 7 months on the road and you can bet he'll be heatin' 'em up as much in '98.

'RECKON YOU KNOW THE RATTLE-CAN LOOK WORKS FOR US!

This new rod make the circle complete for Frank. 'Seems it all started with an A Bone back in '41. He was kind enough to supply the gennie pics below. As good as we've got it now, I still don't know that we hav it any better than they did then. We hope the scanner does a good job of getting this accross to ya.

Ain't this a textbook example of cool in action? His knowledge, experience and passion for his avocation make ya just feel good ; it is the self-fulfillment that most of us feel, getting to chase this great hobby in this great country of ours. Frank is this months Hop Up Hero. Shake his hand when you see him at Muroc this year and thank him for settting a good example as...." Almost the world's oldest living hot rodder."
