TEEN-A-OLOGY: THE STUDY OF THE ORIGINAL GOWJOBS
HOME OF THE 100 MPH CLUB

SPEEDWEEK BANG-QUET SET FOR MONDAY NIGHT
Monday at 5:00 the faithful, the 19, will congregate at the bend in the road to honor new members of the Hop Up 100 Mile Per Hour Club.
It’s free and you are invited. We already have chonies set aside for some cats who we got our money on to make the grade, go a hun then strut the rest of the week in their new undergarments (see below).
The Bang-quet fare is the usual great dogs and suds (did we say free?) and SOUNDS. Yeah, Buddy.

HI TECH? RELATIVELY SPEAKING, YES
Ya know, you (we) Neanderthal car builders….guys that just can’t go forward..progress…get with the latest thing…probably toil more over design, componentry, and craft…........than anybody who got his clues from a Big Catalogue. Creativity doesn’t flourish in such activity…but it does, above.
Neal Jennings explains: “It is a 32 axle with Model A wishbone, spindles and mechanical brakes. To get it all to work together, you need 32 spring perches (taller than A), shackles and main leaf (with reversed eyes in this case). A 1/4” spacer was machined to go below the axle to use the Model A wishbone. The spindle arms were heated and bent up to clear the wishbone (because of the 1-1/4” drop in the axle over a Model A).
With a few leaves out of the spring, it should yield at least a 3” drop over stock, and it retains the “mechanics” of the Model A.”
Now, Neal and his Pop, Chuck, and Neil’s brothers, Paul and Mark, have got a thang going on with Fords, right here on the Central Coast of California. Hang around and you’ll learn more about it; we’ll tell ya now that this is another example of the glue that this iron can be for a family; how a Dad used iron and sheetmetal as one of his tools to build character in his boys…and accumulate a few Fords along the way. And watch for an archival look at the exploits of one “Uncle Elmer” in Hop Up Special No.3. Yeah, Buddy.

DEFECTING?
Some do. After years of knowing that the soul is in the ‘suck, squeeze, bang, blow’ of a four banger with awkward firing order and breathing and valves on the wrong end of right….....some..apparently, those with a wandering eye…like an automotive philanderer…those with no stayin’ power…the old stayin’ power we revelled in in our youth….go on to V8. They double up.
Now…...........that’s tragic…...even tho’ we love our V8 efforts…..noble, if late-model, but when a man’s own progeny…see their muse….their leader..going high tech? Leavin’ us behind to figger out our own timing and jets and gears and…and….
“SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

SHOW ROADSTER?
No, you hairy-legged heathens, this steel T roadster is the V4F entry from Quick ‘n Easy Racing (Tom and Keven Vaughan). We been waiting for this one and this time it’s gonna be at Bonneville. Go fast, Boys…....................We got chonies reserved for ya.

THIS IS SOME KINDA GOOD LOOKIN’ IRON, BRETHREN…

SEE….HERE, AT THE TABERNACLE OF GOW, YOU CAN HAVE THIS MUCH FUN
Monte Osborne has tooo much fun, races for real but always has a new (?) flivver to flog around wherever he is, be it hill climb or El Mirage or whatever. This one’s a T body on a A frame, Whippet shell, high gears and Whoa, Daddy! 75 MPH. That’s fun.
Watch Hop Up for an expose on the big picture of this cat’s act.
Some guys do got it goin’ on.

YES, WE KNOW WHERE IT IS AND WHOSE IT IS. AND HE KNOWS WHAT HE’S GOT
(Maybe so..but does he know the torquing sequence on a Model B? Ed.)

DATELINE HOPUPLAND
There’s going to be a Rollin’ Bones prepared Hop Up Roadster; it’s the banger one that Beck got us off our ass on; so we been cookin’ it up…...and the Boners agreed to flavor it; add spice. ....turn up the flame…..and serve it steamin’ hot…........
For now, we’ll call it the Bangster
In the meantime we’ll track Beck’s B Bomber right here. Pictures will start next month.
Archie and Jughead won’t know what hit ‘em.
Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow
PLEASE READ HOPUPLAND, DRIP PAN AND MORT’S SHORTS, TOO.
