Hop Up MAGAZINE

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Regret to report that our POSTER CHILD in the Foothills still has transmission troubles. This time he kinda forgot to tighten that thingamajig at the end of that rubber hoozit. When he ran out of transmission, it was not the end of the world. His buds found him at the end of a red trail. No big deal 'cept he did this in view of the 'Big Dogs' around Pomona on Father's Day. Like they needed something to criticize about country boys?

HOP UP 2000 WILL BE OFF THE PRESS IN SEPTEMBER

This issue may be kinda brief, Boys. Ya see, the entire staff here in the Hop Up Towers is working hard to get the printed annual done, so there has been too little time to wonder, wander and squander......the main ingredients of a cub reporter's work. A couple of cross-town chingos and look-sees that we've done this month will be reported on in a month or so, but HEY! First thing's first. And we gotta brag. The book...the first in a series of annuals updating OUR way of doing rods and customs, is pretty bone. It's no 48 page Magazine 101. It's loaded with photos, b&w and color; great articles by contributors from all over the U.S. of A. and even Scotland, and the iron featured therein is stuff you've probably not seen anywhere else. The people are some you've probably not seen anywhere else. Buy the thing, look it over, then buy about 6 of them to give as Christmas gifts to those unwashed lugnuts who need to see the truth as you do, but who aren't worth more than 8 bucks to ya. This is too easy. Ya got a JOB, don't ya?

Hop Up has received a roadster body full of mail from the guys who will be getting a free Hop Up 2000. (They're subscribers , jilted by the previous "publishers").

Here's some of their iron. Whoa, Daddy!

DOIN' IT ALL

Street, lakes, drags and dates. Chuck Edwall graced us with these pictures of his coupe taken while he demonstrated the real deal. What hot rods had to do in the beginning. Everything. Yeah. Everything. Look at these pictures and you will see that the traditional hot rod did -and DOES do it all. Or at least they're SUPPOSED to.

We've seen this car, knew it was hep, but had not gotten close to it. We certainly did not know that it was auto-dextrous. Could do it all with either hand. Whadda ya wanna bet there's some bootleg roundy-round swindle this guy is going to run in, just so he's not left out of ANYTHING?

We got this stuff along with his order for Hop Up 2000, and we figger he's telling us he's a Hop Up Guy. Everybody say Amen.

Amen.
