It's comfortable, then, to look at sleds of all descriptions and a few hot rods in this 'Old Home' venue - a mellow affair with a host club that appreciates your patronage, doesn't mind if you show up late and sneak in (ya gotta go find them , though, and pay the donation para be a good citizen) and you get a great spot, doin' it that way.
We turned up a Bel Air we been tryin' to catch for Hop Up 2002, made the deal and now the custom section of the book is complete as planned. Stay tuned.
Why is it that at custom chingos it seems more laid-back than rod runs? Maybe the custom community is made up more of car guys - long time in grade - and not so many manic posers. Youda thought it was the other way, what with the front row cruising image we have of The Day, so we think maybe there are fewer neuvos in the custom gangs. There was, again, an absence of primered cars and we hope that's just because some of the clubs don't know about the meet and not anything else.
Ended up at the Blue Cafe where customs, rods and scooters park on the promenade so's you can watch them while taking in some music and likker on the patio. Cigar smoke was curlin' up and fogging the view of the sleds, and the afternoon Long Beach sun was flickering on moving, luscious people who were there, obviously digging being there. Being alive. And nobody there seemed to give a shit about who somebody else worked for... or was born to......or what inside dope they mighta had on some absent 'celebrity'.......
Light it up, Baby.
We'll turn this page over to the i-net folks before the 28th, and if it's convenient, we'll insert some pictures or comments on the 29th. Or not.
The Board members will be there Thursday night (y'all come), but the official doin's will be Friday morning; some will also stay over Friday night and blast in to Bako on Saturday A.M.
Joe Mac Rebuilds Ford Stuff Hell, NO! Nobody wants to work on your V8-era trans. OR the banjo rear-end. I sure wish Joe Mac Clelland was around.................... He is, of course. The trans-master turns them around in about a day and you can find him at: (909) 371-3111, in Corona, Cal. |
